The Toughest Part For Robert Downey Jr. When Playing Iron Man

Watching Robert Downey Jr plays Tony Stark is a joy. He Plays the character as if he plays himself. His performance seems so effortless. He was truly born to play Tony Stark just like Stan Lee  said. With tons of experience and  great acting skills, you would think that he had everything under control right? surprisingly, that's not the case. Of all the things he did as Iron Man, There is one scene that he always hates. The scene when the camera is constantly in his face and all those high-tech widget floating around him, That scene is the heads up display scene.

When wearing iron man suit with the faceplate down, the audience can't see Downey's face. Therefore filmmakers came up with the HUD (heads-up display) view so people would believe he's in the suit and can actually feel the intense situation he's in. It would be pretty disappointing if we can't see Downey's expression while he's in the suit right?  HUD view is one of the most interesting scene we get when watching iron man movies.

For Robert Downey jr., filming the HUD scene is not as fun as watching it. In fact it is the one scene he hates the most. While Sitting down with Yahoo! Movies, Downey explained why he feels that way. “When you do the HUD work, usually it's kind of the last thing in the schedule, And you're going back and essentially living the movie again in close-up, tired.”

Downey was also asked whether the HUD scene got easier with each film, Downey said, “No, it didn’t,” and explained why it was so tough for him. As an actor, Downey likes to interact with people, talking and making contact with his fellow actor on set. Filming The HUD scene requires him being isolated and immobile with camera constantly in his face.

Even thought the HUD scene was tough for him, Downey did admit that going back to shoot the scene gave the team the chance to improve the overall feeling of many scenes.“We had the luxury of being efficient enough to sometimes say, ‘Stop, stop. Wait a second. Let's not just shoot these next 20 lines. Let's look at the scene and how can we make it a little better or different.’”

We really have to thank Robert Downey Jr. for making the HUD scene so enjoyable to watch. Especially after knowing that it was not easy for him. As A big fan of Iron Man, i can say that The HUD scene is one of the scenes which i always look forward to while watching the movies, apart from the interaction with Jarvis and when he's in the suit of course.
